Lane McVey Joins NASSCO as Vice President and General Counsel July 5, 2000 -- SAN DIEGO, CA -- Lane McVey has been hired as Vice President and General Counsel of National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO), a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD). He joins the company from the San Diego office of the law firm of McKenna & Cuneo, a 240-attorney firm with offices in seven cities. McVey will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the company's legal activities. McVey brings 25 years of expertise to his new position, including experience in commercial and government contracting, negotiations, claims resolution, and criminal and civil litigation. He has done legal work for both NASSCO and General Dynamics for many years. McVey graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Economics. After a tour in the U.S. Army, he received his J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. After completing law school in 1975, he clerked for the Honorable Wilson Cowen, Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He joined McKenna & Cuneo in 1980 and moved to San Diego in 1991 to open the firm's office. As part of his responsibilities at McKenna & Cuneo, McVey served for 15 years as a member of the firm's national Management Committee and as Chairman of the Government Contracts practice.
