The christening and launch of USNS Washington Chambers (T-AKE 11) will take place on Saturday morning, September 11, 2010, and will be open to the public. The ship is named after Captain Washington Chambers (1856-1934), the U.S. Navy officer who oversaw the development of the Navy’s aviation program. The NASSCO shipyard is located at the intersection of 28th Street and East Harbor Drive in San Diego. More details will be provided later.
