Environmental Procedures for Contractors, Team Members, and Third Parties
NASSCO is committed to conducting all operations in a manner that safeguards the health and safety of employees, contractors, and the public while preventing pollution and protecting the environment. Because many shipyard activities have the potential to impact the environment, NASSCO has established specific requirements and procedures for contractors, team members, and third parties to help minimize these impacts.
STEP 1: READ NASSCO'S NOTICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
All Contractors, Team Members, and Third Parties proposing to conduct work within a NASSCO facility are required to read NASSCO's Notice of Environmental Requirements. This document contains information about the environmental policies and procedures everyone must be aware of when working at NASSCO.
STEP 2: SUBMIT THE ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENT REVIEW CHECKLIST AND CERTIFICATION
Each Contractor, Team Member, and Third Party requesting access must submit a completed and signed copy of the Environmental Requirement Review Checklist and Certification form. Each separate company or entity must submit one completed checklist prior to first beginning work at NASSCO, and at for each new vessel or contract thereafter. Return a copy of the completed checklist to NASSCO by e-mail envreports@nassco.com or by fax to 619-744-1088.
STEP 3: REQUEST AUTHORIZATION TO PERFORM ACTIVITIES WITH POTENTIAL TO IMPACT THE ENVIRONMENT
The Notice of Environmental Requirements identifies certain shipyard activities that have been identified as having the potential to impact the environment or that have environmental permit or reporting requirements. NASSCO has developed activity specific Environmental Instructions to help familiarize outside entities with these requirements. Each Contractor, Team Member, and Third Party proposing to perform any of these activities is required to follow the applicable procedure(s) when working at NASSCO. Additionally, any entity proposing to conduct one or more of these activities shall apply for and obtain authorization from NASSCO's Environmental Engineering Department before starting work using the Environmental Request Forms listed in the following table. Return the completed authorization request forms to NASSCO by e-mail envreports@nassco.com or by fax to 619-744-1088. If approved, a signed copy of the authorization form will be returned to you to document the approval. For additional information regarding NASSCO environmental policies and procedures, please call 619-544-7506.
